The July 11, 2005 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was after the July 11, 2005 Monday Night Skate at Vallejo's Restaurant..

Present: Bernie, Brian, Gordon, and Steve. Non Patrollers present: Dick, Gabriel, and Mitchelll.

We covered this agenda:

1. Selecting our new slate of officers: 2005 and 2006 Officers
2. Treaurer's Report from Gordon Innes. Gordon believes we have about $150.
3. Getting a sacramentoskating.org url for our website, and getting our website hosted on a paid site so we have an easy url and we don't have to have a bunch of advertisement on our website. This would cost about ahundred a year or less. Maybe $70 a year with hosting with Mitchell's help. Ths motion was rejected for further study.
4. Improving the Monday Night Skate. We discussed this, and other goals we should persue.
5. Adjournment.

The July 29, 2004 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was at Gordon's home.

Present: Bernie, Gordon, Guy, and Steve.

We covered this agenda:

1. Ordering pizza. We oredered 2 mediaum pizzas.
2. Treaurer's Report from Gordon Innes. Gordon is working to get the books from Don Churnich, previous Treasurer. He believes we have about $100.
3. Recertification: Reading the manual and completing and discussing the test.� We can discuss and complete the questions at the meeting. We cooperatively completed certification tests.
4. 2004 and 2005 Officers. We selected a full slate of officers, as reported on the Skate Patrol Page.
5. The problem of not wearing our uniforms.� According to the Skate Patrol, Skate Patrol members should wear their uniforms.� Otherwise, their insurance does not apply, and they can�t really be on patrol. We discussed this.
6. Improving the Monday Night Skate. We discussed this.
7. The possiblity of having a skate start in a very visible location so that people would see the skate start and possibly join it. Guy will let me know when he finds a good starting place.
8. We don�t have to limit ourselves to the Monday Night Skate.� Maybe somebody can start another skate.
9. Distributing T shirts, protective gear, and wheels. I hope to deploy all of the equipment. We distributed shirts and wheels.
10. Other agenda items. Skate Patrol members can add agenda items. We adjourned.

The August 9, 2003 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was at Gordon's home.

Present: Bernie, Gordon, Guy, and Steve.

First came training:

• We discussed the manual.
• We clarified some of its main points, especially those that are in the test.
• Guy and the rest of us discussed skating Smart, Legal, Alert, and Polite.
• Gordon and the rest of discussed Teaching Techniques and using the heel brake.
• Steve and the rest of us discussed how to deal with injuries.
• We expected Jeff Jeff DeCola, National Skate Patrol Director, to call and answer our questions on Gordon's speaker phone. He did not call us. I must have made a mistake in my request.
• Outside discussion and demonstration of teaching people to stop with the heel brake.
• Everyone showing that they can teach the heel brake stop.
• Other outside discussion and demonstrations.
• Everyone completing one page test inside Gordon's house. All 4 of us passed the test.
• Adjournment.

The meeting itself was in Gordon's home.

Meeting agenda:

• We decided that refresher training and testing like today's will be required of all Skate Patrol members.
• We discussed the Monday Night Skate. Guy suggested we should print flyers and hand them out when we skated, Steve suggested that we use some of our budget for this.
• Gordon is trying to obtain our books from the last Treasurer.
• Bernie will contact Jeff DeCola to see how we can best take advantage of the specials available to Skate Patrol members.
• We decided not to set a meeting date and place yet. We will stay together by email and talking during and after the Monday Night Skate.
• Adjournment.

The June 9, 2003 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was at Vallejo's Restaurant after the Monday Night Skate. .

Present: Alex, Bernie, Craig, Daedre, Gordon, Guy, Mitchell, Shellie, Steve.

Gordon provided a several year history of the Skate Patrol in Sacramento. One significant accomplishment was helping open the American River Parkway for skating.

Gordon explained that the Skate Patrol on a National level was becoming active again, with sponsorship by many skating product companies.

Alex, Bernie, Craig, Daedre, Gordon, Guy, Mitchell, and Steve volunteered to join the Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol. Gordon explained that soon www.active.com would again be open for Skate Patrol enrollment. Then, through www.active.com, all the interested could become part of the Skate Patrol for about $25.

We elected the following officers:

We set the last Saturday in July (the 26th) as the training date for new Skate Patrol members. Steve Lee and Craig Robertson volunteered that one of them would host this training.

Gordon will let us know when we can enroll in the Skate Patrol through www.active.com. We will set our next meeting after we can enroll.

The July 30, 2002 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was at the home of Julie Kaye.

Pressent: Bernie, Daedre, Don, Gordon, Julie, Mari, Natalie, Steve.

First we enjoyed the hospitality of Julie and Lorne. Then most of us enjoyed a pleasant dip in the pool.

Next came a delicious barbequed beef potluck dinner.

Feeling like royalty, we started our business meeting, discussing the following items:

• Gordon and Steve gave us some of the main points of the Freedom Skate and the Philadelphia NSP (National Skate Patrol) meeting.
  • Since Explore Wheels is having financial problems, free wheels for the Skate Patrol will be limited.
  • The NSP will probably be switching to a different insurance vendor; the rates are high. Otherwise participation in the NSP will cost individuals more.
  • The next major conference for the NSP will be in Miami Beach, Florida in February 2003. NSP members should plan to attend.
  • NSP participation has been growing, even if our Monday Night Skate has not.
• Monday Night Skate.
  • At the July 29, 2002 Monday Night Skate many of the skaters did not have helmets. We can only recommend helmets and set a helmet-wearing example.
  • How to balance the needs of the experienced skaters, who want to skate at least an hour and half, with the needs of beginning skaters. Sometimes having 2 skates (1 longer) is good.
• We discussed the land-fill near 28th Street and the railroad tracks could be used by the City. A skate park is one option. Someday this area will be connected to the American River Parkway. The trail is already started.
• We reviewed and improved the new promotional flyer for the Monday Night Skate. To use this flyer:

  3. Click on "Flyer to help promote the Monday Night Skate".
  4. Print and distribute as many flyers as you want.
     a. Refreshing the screen before printing will usually get rid of the banner ad.
     b. You can fold these 1 page flyers, if you want.

The April 2, 2002 Sacramento Branch of the National Skate Patrol Board Meeting was at the home of Gordon Innes, Skate Patrol Director. We had pleasant time, a great potluck, and a good meeting.

We decided to continue with Skate Patrol affiliation for another year. We decided on our 2002 Officers. We discussed ways of promoting our Monday Night Skate. As members of the Skate Patrol, we received wheels, lights, and protective gear. New uniforms will come later.

1. Dues: We will discuss and collect dues for this year.
2. Pocket Guide: We will discuss the pocket guide and what sponsors should be on it.
3. Trail patrol: We will discuss the experiences of last month's patrols and set up patrols for next month.

   Mari will look for new location with Monday skaters.

2. Trail Patrol.

   Cee Cee Cryor & Robert Serrazana of Sacramento County provided patrolling suggestions.

   Skate Patrollers provided names and phone numbers, and signed up to start patrolling weekends.

3. New Patrol Members.

   Sacramento will certify new Skate Patrol members on May 13.

4. State of the Skate.

   We will have a State of the Skate celebration June 5, Monday at 6:00 p.m.

5. National Skate Patrol Meeting.

   The Annual National Skate Patrol Meeting will be held this year in Montreal on Friday September 22, 2000. Gordon and others may attend.

6. Eddy Matzger Skating Workshop.

   Will be in Sacramento April 21-23 for those who want to skate faster.
